2/3/20 J League Basketball
For the start of the semester we were all tasked with making news packages. I immediately had plans when the semester started on doing a video about my rec league team. I just had to figure out how to do it but as a news package. I think I did a pretty good job. I had originally planned to record my interviews a week before but I had the flu and missed our game entirely. It was an unlucky situation but I feel I did my best to work around it. I wish I could have done a better job following the shot sequencing in this video. I didn't really incorporate a six shot sequence which was one of the biggest aspects of this project. I really put an emphasis on trying to show the action that was being spoken about this project and I think I did a good job. I recorded the most b-roll I ever have for this month's project and it made my editing process a lot easier. I made some mistakes and did some things well but I think this video was a good start to the semester for me.

12/18/19 Fantasy Football Factory
When thinking of a project to do for the month I really didn't have anything I had planned prior so I was a bit lost. After watching my classmate Catherine do . podcast for one other projects it gave me the idea of doing a podcast on Fantasy Football. Fantasy Football is something I love to play and with the Fantasy playoffs starting I thought it was the perfect time to do it. I worked with Adam because we always talk to each other about our own fantasy teams and how we're doing. For my first time recording a podcast I think it went pretty well. We all spoke well and confidently and had an interesting topic of discussion. I wish we could have all elaborated more on our points. Our music selection also was repetitive and it stuck out. While fantasy season is coming to an end, I'm definitely excited to do another podcast because not only did I enjoy it but I feel like its something other people would enjoy as well.

10/21/19 Why The Broncos Stink
As a longtime football fan, I've always loved the Broncos. Originally, it was just because they had Peyton Manning, but over time my love for the team has grown and grown. This year the Broncos are off to a 2-5 start and once again the playoffs seem unlikely. In my opinion, the reason for this horrid start to the year is the offense. Joe Flacco can't throw the ball down the field, and while the run game has had some impressive weeks, they aren't reliable. The one bright spot on the entire offense this year is Courtland Sutton. He is currently in the top 10 in receiving yards in the league and is having a breakout year no one expected. This has sparked Emmanuel Sanders trade rumors. Personally, I hope Sanders is traded to give Sutton the chance to be our true number one receiver. Hopefully, Drew Lock returns soon and we can give him a chance and see if he is the next franchise QB. Ultimately, the Broncos have a talented roster, but a lack of a franchise QB will continue to hold them back until they figure that situation out.

10/21/19 Ladue's New Phone Policy
This month I wanted to make a video that I felt would interest the students at my school while also being a relevant topic. I chose the schools phone policy because I think many students feel outspoken about it and I thought it would be an impactful topic. I worked with Adam and during the interview I would ask the questions and talk to the person we chose to interview. Even though we worked together our videos are a bit different. I had an interview with another student, but I didn't feel like it fit my story so I deleted it. Tis project taught me that you could never really have too much b-roll as I found myself needing more last minute. I tried to be more particular with my editing.I thought that maybe having them speak in order of grade level would allow the viewer to compare and contrast the differences that age has to do with their opinion on the issue. I think this video showed some growth I've made and I'm excited to keep going.

9/20/19 Waffle Fry Project
With the start of the new school year I wanted my first project to be something that I thought was unique and interesting at the same time. For awhile now, waffle fries have been the most popular item at lunch. So I interviewed one of our lunch ladies and I captured B-roll during different lunch hours. I feel like my interview was good but I think I'm going to move in a different direction for future projects. Maybe taking a more journalistic approach. I feel like the waffle fry video is something people at my school may find funny but I want to make a video that can relate to more than just the people at my school. For my first project since last year I feel I did a pretty good job. I think I can continue to grow as an editor and as a filmmaker.

5/21/19 Final Project and Reflection
For our Final Project in class we were assigned to make a normal object seem EPIC. I originally had entire plan already storyboarded about me being the love interest of a piece of paper. But the plans to film with my friend fell through. I knew I needed to film this one myself in order to meet my deadline. So for my object I chose a microwave and the story is a late night snack. I chose this because I thought it sounded funny and it's something almost everyone can relate to. A couple things I would have improved on with more time is better lighting in certain areas. I wish I would have enlisted someones help recording this and that would have made it all the better. Overall, I think I grew a lot from my first project of the semester the Airpod video to now. Next year I hope to continue to build on everything I've leaned this year not just with my videos but also in the studio. I'd like to continue directing and producing funny videos next year.

4/29/19 Floral Shirt: Infomercial
When we were given the freedom to choose anything we wanted as topic for our videos making a video dedicated to my love of floral shirts instantly came to my mind. After making the video I think this is the proudest I've been of work I've made in broadcast class so far. I put a lot of time into planning and filming a lot of my shots and I also left my comfort zone by learning different ways of editing on Final Cut Pro and trying out a green screen for the first time. I think this video represents some of best work I've made thus far in Broadcast. Im excited to build off of this project next year and continue to make videos on topics that interest me.

3/24/19 The Epidemic: AirPods
MY Airpod Investigation went pretty well overall. I didn't meet my deadline of finishing but I felt I invested a lot into this project so I wanted to make it out as I envisioned it. For that I believe I did a good job. If I could make a teak it would be to make sure my friends and I aren't having too much fun in scenes meant to be taken more serious. But it also did fit the goofy approach I was going with throughout the entire process. I thought that my interview went well because I asked interesting question regarding the topic. I like the idea I had with adding little skits around it but next time I would take an overall more serious approach. Some of my shots could have been a bit more polished. My first project of the semester was huge learning experience and I want to continue making videos similar to this one.

2/22/19 Studio Work
During my time working in the studio I have mainly been working jobs running the AJA, or running the teleprompter. These jobs have been fun to me because in Broadcast 1 last semester I spent most of time on camera. I really do enjoy being a Anchor but it was a nice change of pace and it was different. With running the teleprompter the most important thing I'd say I learned is that everyone speaks at a different pace and when theres a gap in between categories you need to speed up a bit to avoid having an awkward pause. Running AJA is all about timing so I just need to make sure the communication between the Director and I is good. In all, I have enjoyed these jobs in the back but I look forward to maybe getting back in front of the camera soon enough.

12/20/18 Class Feedback
Broadcast Tech was one of my favorite classes I hav taken recently in high school. I've always thought I wanted to do something media related and this class gave me the opportunity to see what it really is like. My favorite project was the Six Word Story because even with something that seems like not much direction being 6 words. It gave the most creativity and I felt like I could do anything I wanted with it. Im excited to keep going on in B Tech 2 next semester. I hope we do similar projects to the Six Word Story where you have a lot of different directions you can go in. I feel I have a lot f creativity and this class like no other I've taken in high school allowed me to put that on display. Overall. this has shown me my strengths and weaknesses in production and I know what to work on for next semester.

12/20/18 Interview An Expert W/BRoll
For my Interview I wanted to really capture the project and what it was as a whole so many of my B-Roll shots are of the process of Aubrey making her food. The hardest part for me was editing out all of the best things she said. I had to relisten multiple times and make sureI edited it correctly. One of the problems I ran into was that I did not have enough clear footage of her talking as I might have liked. But thankfully I took enough B-Roll that it was able to cover the problem. The biggest takeaway I have from editing an interview is that you can never have too much B-Roll or too much content in an Interview.

12/17/18 Interview An Expert
When assigned to interview an expert for an upcoming project I had a few people in mind. Ultimately, I wanted to interview someone who had a unique experience and who had a story to tell. So when I heard about out Culinary classes doing a food truck project I knew I'd want to interview someone involved. I reached out to Aubrey for an interview because she seemed like a very outgoing person who'd make a good interview and she did. First I went and observed what they were doing, got the shots I needed, and then interviewed her. The hardest part was making sure I had question that would require a lengthy response. I feel like I did a pretty good job with that. In the future, I'd check to make sure focus was on and that everything was white balanced properly. |
11/18/18 Incompetent Inconsiderate Idiotic Immature Irritating INCREDIBLE
Starting my Six Word Story project I wanted to have something where it allowed me to show who I am and show how I'm perceived and thats why I chose these 6 words. The first shot I did a POV hot and it showed how I feel people think I'm incompetent when it comes to work. For the second shot for Inconsiderate it was a tight shot of me drinking from the gallon of milk. This shot was more of to be funny, I didn't want my video to be too serious because that isn't a good representation of me. For my third shot idiotic it was a close up of me cracking an egg over my head. This shot served its purpose because it's very unexpected and funny which is what I wanted out of my video. The fourth shot Immature was a high angle shot of me watching Spongebob. I chose this because I love the show and thought it would be the perfect thing to show how I'm perceived as Immature. For Irritating I did a XCU of me laughing and I made sure to use the natural sounds because I have a very distinct laugh. Finally, on my last shot I used an extreme wide shot of me dancing to show how in spite of al these things I feel Incredible about myself. Some of my shots aren't perfect and that adds to The perception of me in the first 5 words. For anyone looking to do a project that will force you to think outside of the box I recommend everyone does a 6 Word Story.

10/22/18 Six Word Stories
After researching over many six word stories, it has shown me the power that six words really has.I've seen many six word stories that have made me laugh, feel sad, happy, and and inspired. One of my favorites that I've seen is Strangers. Friends. Best Friends. Lovers. Strangers. It's only six words but I feel it really elaborates on how many relationships tend to play out. We also researched Ernest Hemingway and his famous quote "For Sale: Baby shoes. Never Worn." That quote could interpreted in many ways by anyone and that also goes for most six word stories and thats one of the most fun things about them. Ernest Hemingway made the story for a bet, but the quote sparks thought because it isn't what you would think it is. Overall, six word stories have helped show me the impact just one word can have and how many could interpret it differently.

10/17/18 Camera/Final Cut Blog
Over these past couple of weeks I've learned how to properly operate a camera and it was different I originally thought. I've never worked with a quality as high quality as we did in class. That was the best part to me seeing how crisp all of our photos came out. We learned the difference between a wide, medium, and tight shot and you could see the complete difference between each shot. It gives you a whole different outlook on photography, and really shows you the power of a photo. We also learned about editing on Final Cut Pro, which is one of the things I looked forward too when i chose this class. Final Cut was confusing at first but after a few days I feel like I understand how to use it and am excited to see what I can create.

I have finished doing every job so far in tech and it has been an awesome experience! I had lots of fun being the director but I can definitely say my favorite position was being the anchor. The anchor requires you to be outgoing, exciting, and not to be afraid of the spotlight and those are the characteristics that I would apply to myself. Its an awkward experience at first with all those lights and everyone watching you, but I felt really comfortable after a couple of tries. I've never been a person who didn't enjoy having the spotlight on them so that helped make it really fun. One of the biggest adjustments my teachers helped me learn was to speak with emotion while reading from the teleprompter. If you don't speak like you care then the people watching wont either. In all I've enjoyed being in the studio so far and am excited to see what else we learn in the studio this semester.

In TV production in class I've been able to learn where many of my strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to production. I was able to get to be a director and I really enjoyed it. It could be a bit confusing at first because of how fast paced things are. Being a director requires you to be loud and pretty assertive because its your job to run the control room. As we went through many runs I became comfortable with being director and had fun with it. I also worked the soundboard which I dont feel is one of my strengths. My job was to do mic checks and make sure the volume was at a reasonable level for everything. Soundboard wasn't one of my favorites but I had a lot of fun with it. Overall, my first time working in a production studio taught me how much really goes into producing.

Creating my Iam video was a very fun experience for me because i was able to go back reminisce on what helped me become who Iam today. I want everyone to see the Iam video and see how it still represents me today in later posts. I hope everyone who watches the video can find some inspiration from it to go back and dig up any old photos and pictures. For me its always important to remember what makes us we are.
